Sometimes you don't want to spend money to do something fun. Here in Fort Worth we are pretty lucky that there are many great places to visit that don't cost anything. Last weekend I visited the Kimball Art Museum.
The Kimball Art Museum is one of my favorite places to visit in Fort Worth. One of the great things about it is that you can view the permanent collection for free. The permanent collection is a treasure trove featuring several great pieces of art. I have been to the National Art Gallery in Washington DC and it is awesome, but we are so lucky to have such diverse collection of amazing pieces right here in Fort Worth, such as Michealangleo's first painting, The Torment of Saint Anthony, which he painted when he was around age 13. It is a vibrant and frightening creation. Another exciting recent aquisition is Guercino’s Christ and the Woman of Samaria.

There are many other great works of art that have been displayed at the Kimball, as well as Special Exhibits such as Art and Love in Renaissance Italy last year. It was a beautiful collection of Italian Renaissance art and jewelry in vibrant colors. Starting August 29th, the Kimball will offer Fiery Pool, The Maya and the Mythic Sea, which will exhibit artifacts from the ancient Mayan civilization.
Check out the coming attractions as well as information about the permanent collection and the past exhibitions at the Kimball's website at https://www.kimbellart.org/Index.aspx
